Second part of my fashion illustration project, testing out three different techniques.

“Mr. Smith goes to Washington” a film by Frank Capra, featuring James Stewart as Jeffrey Smith, a naive and patriotic leader of Boy Rangers. He becomes senator by chance and discovers an alarming amount of political corruption.
Inspired by the early style of the Hlebine School, a Croatian Naive Art movement that originated in the 1930s.

See previous post, now with Colours! Might replace some colours with black, any thoughts? Skin won’t be white in finished illustrations either, more brown-ish.

Spent most of the week designing these five outfits. Difficult to be that narrow, would be easier ti do 50… Theme is Action Heroines! Inspired by Wonder Woman, 3.1 Phillip Lim f/w 12 and comic books in general. Colouring will be done today and hopefully some trade sketches before the more creative and dynamic process begins.

One more evening of Photoshop to improve the texture on my Series of Unfortunate Events illustration.
(See previous post for previous version)
Book the fourth, fifth and sixth: The Miserable Mill, The Austere Academy and The Ersatz Elevator.
The Baudelaire children becomes friends with two of the Quagmire triplets who are in a similar situation as the Baudelaires. The two Quagmire triplets are kidnapped and smuggled under their noses in a red herring by the incredibly handsome and somewhat evil, but very fashionable Count Olaf.

Please comment and critique the first image, the second one is a semi-digital sketch.

And then the night came… Helpful tips, or good links concerning colouring over values in Photoshop would be appreciated. Thank you :)

A philosophical experience, meant for a magazine cover. Struggled with this one. Might decide on whether I hate or love it after a few days spent not staring at it. While doing research, I spent some time admiring Alain de Botton. (youtube and ted)

Rework of a matte painting I did last week. Tried to imitate Frederic Remington’s technique with Corel Painter and it’s Oil on Canvas options. Never used Painter before, so that was interesting.

Sketch for a magazine cover dealing with experience. Thinking of water-coloring it (so much fun) and draw some macro details real big. This pair kind of small (don’t want stupid magazine text over it) and then eyelashes, nostrils, cat paw or something floating around. Kind of: experience each other.. So I’m just wondering (deadline this Tuesday) yay or nay?
Also the sketch has major flaws, needs more of a frog’s view and the foot needs to be flat and it’s out of place. The whole leg needs to be bigger anyways.
